On invitation to the first Street Level public space exhibition in Dresden, I decided to provide the public with a rarely-seen view of ‘street level’ by digging a cubic hole of 170cm in a urban field near the intersection of two roads. While digging, blackened bricks from houses destroyed in the fire-bombing of the city during WWII were discovered and these were incorporated into stabilizing the walls of the pit. As a participant, you climb in via a ladder and look out over the field and street at eye level, providing you with a new idea of perspective.
